Soccer Skills:

Heading

Heading a soccer ball is one of the aspects that makes soccer unique. Who created a sport where you can use your head, but not your hands? A player who can successfully head a ball can become a valuable weapon on the field for a team. There are three aspects of heading: heading to pass, heading to score and heading to clear a ball. All of these can be completed while still on the ground or while jumping in the air. As a soccer skill, heading should be introduced – not as a focus – as players reach U8 and above; at U10 and above, you can begin to develop this skill.
